The Playoff Picture

Reggie Ragland and the Tide defense are superb

1. Alabama

Wow, what a victory Saturday Night over LSU. A shellacking, 30-16, and to me, solidified the Tide's spot at the top of the rankings. Derrick Henry rushed for 210 yards on 38 carries with three TDs. What a workhorse. Derrick now has 1,254 rushing yards on the season and 17 TDs. He's my Heisman leader in the clubhouse right now. We're into November, it's now time to talk about the Heisman. Defense is all time good. I said this before the season: this may be the best defense S and Kirby have had in their years at Alabama. S's eighth, Kirby's seventh. Huge game at State this Saturday. Kickoff is at 2:30 PM CT/3:30 PM ET on CBS.

2. Clemson

Dabo Swinney may be the best story in college football this season. He came up with a new dance for his team after Clemson defeated FSU Saturday afternoon at Death Valley, 23-13. The good thing about Dabo's dances is they're funny and not feminine. They get his team pumped up. He's a great guy and a heckuva football coach. Clemson is playing super ball right now.

3. Oklahoma State

Mike Gundy and his Cowboys blasted TCU, 49-29, at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, OK Saturday afternoon. Oklahoma State along with OU look like the best teams in the Big 12 with Baylor right there too.

4. Stanford

David Shaw has an outstanding football team right now. Tailback Christian McCaffrey has rushed for 1,207 yards and six TDs. He's a super good player for the Cardinal. The Cardinal and USC look like the best two teams in the Pac-12 right now. Could be a colossal showdown in the Pac-12 championship game. Of course there is some football to be played. Stanford has games against Oregon, Cal and Notre Dame, all at home, but I like them in all of three of those games. USC still has to play UCLA in a backyard brawl in the Pac-12 South, so they've got work. Really liking this Stanford group right now.

Next Four:

5. Oklahoma

6.Notre Dame

7. Baylor

8. Ohio State

Auburn with a huge victory over A&M at College Station on Saturday, 26-10. Jeremy Johnson played very well and the running game and defense were superb. AU plays Georgia on Saturday on the Plains at 11 AM CT/ Noon ET on CBS right before Alabama plays at State at 2:30 PM CT on CBS.
