Here are predictions on which 2 teams will survive and advance to the championship match of this electric World Cup.
France versus Belgium
The Red Devils defeated 5 time champion Brazil on Friday, 2-1, and that was pretty convincing to me. I like them to defeat Les Bleus and move on to the championship match. They have never won the world cup only reaching the semifinals once in 1986. I like them to prevail over the 1998 champions. But this should be a classic. Can't wait for it.
Belgium 3, France 2 overtime
England versus Croatia
The Brits defeated Sweden on Saturday, 2-0, to advance to the semifinals. Croatia outlasted Russia in Moscow on penalty kicks after finishing regulation and overtime in a 2-2 tie. I like captain Harry Kane and the 1966 champion Three Lions side to prevail over the Blazers.
England 2, Croatia 1
This is a spectacular event. Markedly more interesting than a Tiger-Phil matchup. They are not has-beens yet, but they're getting closer to those monikers.
But these matches are happening marquee events in sports. It's been a thrill to watch the teams throughout the world compete over the last 2 weeks for the coveted World Cup. I highly recommend watching the World Cup semis and final.
