Is there a sport that the Longhorns aren't good at? The No.2 basketball team beat No.9 Michigan State last night, 78-62, behind do it all senior Damion James who scored 23 points and added 13 boards. The Horns had just beaten No.10 North Carolina at home in Sat., 103-90. They are now 11-0. They have five guys who are averaging double figures in scoring led by James at 17 points per game. James is also chipping in almost 11 boards a game.
They are in an awesome bball conference this year. The Big 12 has three stellar teams in Kansas, Texas and Kansas State, all top seven or eight teams in the country in my opinion. Texas Tech is right behind them and could become an elite team. They're working towards that. They're 10-1 with a big win over pre= season top 10 Washington. Their only loss is to Wichita State, a 12-1 team. Missouri, with Mike Anderson, will be formidable. Oklahoma State is pretty good as is Texas A&M.
It's a great conference this year; as good or better than the SEC.
Back to Texas. They've also won six national titles in baseball with that latest two coming in 2002 and '05. They lead the NCAA in all time College World Series appearances at 33.
We know about football. They're a pretty outstanding athletic school. Of course their budget is unlimited with all those rich Texans supporting the program. And there are a lot of rich Texans.
