Tide falls to a very good Vols team

No.8 Tennessee showed why they are ranked so highly. Wayne Chism, as expected, was big late in the game scoring 11 points in the last seven minutes as the Vols won, 63-56 to move to 15-2 overall and 3-0 in the SEC. 'Bama dropped to 11-7 and 1-3. Bama got off to an early 9-3 lead, but the Vols came back and kept the Tide off balance for most of the second half. Scotty Hopson led the Vols with 17 points, Chism added 11 and Kenny Hall had 12 off the bench. Alabama was led by JaMychal Green who had 16 points and 12 boards. Mikhail Torrance was only 1-of-9 from the field, a tough night for Mikhail. The Tide shot 37 percent for the game and only 26 percent from three. They were eight-of-11 from the charity stripe. Freshman Tony Mitchell scored 11 on five-of-eight shooting. He is going to be a star.

The Vols just shot 39 percent and only three-of-10 from three. They were 16-of-21 from free throw line.

The Vols are now 4-0 since Bruce Pearl dismissed Tyler Smith from the team and suspended the three other players.

Alabama plays Mississippi State next at home Saturday at 11 a.m. The game will be televised by CBS. The Vols play Georgia at home Saturday at 4 p.m. on Fox Sports South.
