In my book it's Devan Downey for SEC player of the year. Averaged 26 points in SEC play. I know that Wall and Cousins are incredible for Kentucky, but after watching Downey single-handedly beat Vanderbilt last Sat. and Kentucky earlier in the season at Columbia, I just believe the guy deserves it. Plus, he's a senior, and I think there should be some consideration for a guy who sticks it out for four years. But mostly, he's stellar and deserves it. Will be speaking with Joe Dean Jr. in the morning. Look for my conversation with Joe tomorrow afternoon probably around 3. We'll talk SEC tourney, his choice for Player of the year both SEC and nationally (By the way my guy nationally is Evan Turner of Ohio State with John Scheyer of Duke running a close second) and his thoughts on the national tourney; who's in, who's out, who can make it in with a good show in tourney; what Ms. State has to do, Florida, UConn (though they're in trouble) and Illinois (though they probably have to win Big-10 tourney to get in)among others.
